How'd you get involved? My Husband bought me the cutest yearling next door for my Birthday, he just happened to be a Reined Cow Horse! And I thought he was just a Quarter Horse! They made me promise I would have him trained and taken to the Snafflebit Futuritiy...Okay??? Well that was my first Cow Horse experience, needless to say I've been completely hooked ever since.
How long have you been riding? I rode a POA as a Teenager and competed in our local Gymkanas for a few years then went off to College and had not ridden since.
Fun facts about you or your horse: Well as you can imagine, I was tired of sitting on the bench (or fence) watching everyone else ride, so I got lucky and bought Earl on March 26th. On the 27th I was at Russell's Ranch for a Clinic & Horse Show. Did I mention that I hadn't ridden in 20 years? Okay, the fabulous trainers Russell, Tommy, Mark, Doug & Rodger... whom I had the luxury to learn from their skills and advice, had me so well trained I was running Mach 1 down the arena attempting a sliding stop, or something like it. Yes I worked (or should I say I was worked) cows that very same day! So I thank you Rodger for letting Russell know that Earl knew how to work a cow so I'd be okay. and thank you Doug for realizing that no matter how many times a cow runs me back and forth across the arena that the 3 1/2 minutes extra were because I looked like I needed the practice. and Russell, for pointing out the fact that if I was going to fall off, today was the day! You guys are my inspiration and the reason that when I ride into that show arena I am never afraid! Bring it on!

How did you get involved in Reined cow horse? I bought a cutting through Russell & Tanna Dilday and started taking lessons with Russell. I decided that I should try reined cow horse since that is what Russell does and that is where I could get the most help.
How long have you been riding? Since age 8, wow 35 years
Fun fact about you or your horse? I got involved in horses because my second grade teacher had horses and invited me to her house to see them. I asked (begged) my mom if could have a horse. She and my step dad said that I could have one if I could find one for $50.00 (I am sure this was their way of thinking that they were going to get out of buying me a horse. Ha Ha) I found a horse the very next day that came with a saddle, bridle, and the place to keep it for $50.00. Lesson to parents don't underestimate your kids.
As for my horses, what can I say, they are my life second to my people family. I bought Gypsys three years ago. She had been shown a little as a cutter when she was young. Then she was a brood mare for a few years. She was not a reined cow horse. I went to a few cuttings, but decided that I wanted to do reined cow horse events instead. So I started working on lead changes, spins, and stops with the help of Russell, because she really didn't know how to do any of the reinning. She is still not the best reiner, but we get by. Gypsy is going to be seventeen this next year. She still has a lot to learn and to teach me. Amilli is my three year old mare by Topsails Rien Maker. I bought her from Russell & Tanna as a two year old. She is coming along nicely and I am hoping that she will make me a nice Non Pro horse. I am looking forward to showing her very soon.
Quotes or other information? Greener Than Grass is a great place to get started. Eventhough, I have been riding for many year in other events, I didn't know anything about reined cow. It is so different from anything else I have ever done. Greener Than Grass gave me the confidence to compete at my comfort level.
