All you need is a sound horse, western saddle and be ready to have a good time.

The purpose of the Green as Grass class is to provide beginning exhibitors the opportunity to become acquainted with and develop basic reined cow horse skills in a competitive, fun and supportive atmosphere.

GREEN AS GRASS  CLASS RULES VARY DEPENDING ON THE ASSOCIATION

RIDERS and  Trainers, please make sure are aware of the new rules as to eliminate any confusion.

ENTRY LEVEL

This is the beginning reined cowhorse class.

NSHA RULES STATE: Greener than Grass Class Boxing class is open to beginning level non-pro riders who have earned lass than  200 NSHA points, and/or less than $1500 at any cow horse competition. Contestants can have gone down the fence BUT can only fall back into the boxing classes one time. Contestants do not need to own the horse they are showing

HORSE

Green as Grass riders may ride a horse owned by someone else (including non-family members). 

MEMBERSHIP

Green as Grass riders need to be a member of the ASSOCIATION or CLUB  in which they plan to show.

Greener Than Grass ~ What is a "Green as Grass"  ?

The goal of this site is to educate new participants on the history, training and showing of stock horses.

We are excited to be able to offer Green Clinics. The clinics will be held here in the central valley. They will feature the BEST instructors in the industry. There will be LOW STRESS reining  and cattle boxing lessons as well as information, and videos on how the maneuvers are completed and scored. This is a beginner guide to understanding everything from how to track a cow to scoring the event in a LOW STRESS environment.

The 2009  clinicians included John Ward  the 2008 NRCHA Futurity Champion, Russell Dilday the 2008 World’s Greatest Horseman and 2008 World’s Richest Horseman Champion, Jake Gorrel AQHA Junior Working Cow Horse World Champion, Mark Matson, Open Hackamore World Champion and Ted Robinson the winningest rider in reined cow horse history!  These clinics are designed for any rider interested in the NSHA and showing at the basic level.
